What has changed in 12 years?
More than we even remember....
- The Rebuild of Todd lane from lazy two country road to modern urban cross section with bike lanes, full sized recreational trails and modern safety facilities.
- The modernization of almost every department, utilizing cutting edge technology for engagement, communication, record keeping, billing efficiency and service delivery.
- The conversion of all lights (inside and out) to ultra efficient LEDs that have already paid for themselves and are saving thousands yearly in electrical cost.
- The modernization of our water billing, allowing efficiencies, cost reductions and in-house billing that has enhanced service and kept our water rates the lowest in the county.
- Continued improvement of our park spaces, from the smallest parkette to the rebuilds of two out of three of our premier playgrounds, the Vollmer Splash Pad as well as Heritage Park....adding inclusive and accessible features and enhancements.
- The addition of (organized and unorganized) recreational sport opportunities including (but not limited to) tennis and pickleball at the Vollmer.
- The replacement of thousands of feet of cast iron watermain to ensure the ultimate safety of our residential water supply.
- The replacement of both bridges over Turkey Creek (as well as a rebuild of the pedestrian bridge known locally as the "pirate bridge", ensuring safe travels by all modes of transportation..
- The addition of dozens of programs and events specifically for the senior community, a growing and appreciated demographic.
- The external investment of over $200M for the development of "The Shoppes at Heritage", a destination that allows our residents to enjoy many features of nearby communities without having to leave home.
- The redevelopment of 60 acres of waterfront property in LaSalle that will grow into maximum waterfront trail access for residents and visitors alike while offering unique recreation, retail and gathering spaces.
- The continued high ranking of "Safest Town" in Ontario by being the only municipality in Essex County to have retained their own police force allowing us control of how it grows and is governed.
